He completely screwed up the Corvette comparaison though...

I’ll copy paste the comment I made:

“Your numbers are wrong when it comes to the Corvette. Base L98 Corvette made 250hp. From 1992 to 1996 Base LT1 Corvette made 300hp. The LT4 (C4 Grand Sport) was rated at 330hp but made closer to 350/360hp. What you’re quoting is the ZR1 Corvette up until 1992 that made 375hp and 405hp until 1996. Car and Driver compared the Twin Turbo Z32 with the L98 Corvette (250hp) and the corvette was deemed superior pretty much everywhere when it came to performance (minus top speed pull and top speed because those idiots tested the corvette in 6th gear which is the overdrive. Top speed being achieved in 5th). You can read it here, Circa February 1990 :) http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/19… Also, you’re using the price of a base Corvette but using figures of a ZR-1 Corvette. The 375hp Corvette used to cost around 55000$ if I recall correctly. Over 20k$ more than the 300ZX. So you’re right, the L98 base Corvette was indeed a better performer than the 300ZX TT, but not to the extend you explain in this video. Also, the manual Twin turbo 300ZX you tested, is overall a much better performer and faster than a L98 Automatic 4speed Corvette you tested also. For a good comparaison you need a C4 with a ZF6 transmission like the one used in the Car and Driver review. ”

The best thing about the RCR guy? He accepts that many will not like him. (I don’t.) He doesn’t have to be accurate as he gets paid either way.

That’s where we live right now. Act like an idiot and cash in!

Except it was a naturally aspirated 300ZX, not a twin turbo.

That’s my point. If the TT is already outperformed by the L98 Corvette, comparing it to the NA is even more useless.

Sorry if want clear, quick YouTube answers aren’t my thing lol

RCR guy isn’t as bad as it gets. There are a lot of people being total idiots and getting millions of views.

RCR is more a flavored look at an old car.

Epic sombrero!

Also, it doesn’t get much more 90s than the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine theme. I was at a convention when Jonathan Frakes called it Deep Throat Nine . Marina Sirtis was kinder and called it Deep Sleep Nine . Also, if you ever have the chance to see those two together at a con, do it. They’re great individually, but freaking hilarious together.

This video triggered me a bit. I’ve owned two NA 300ZXs, I never got the feeling they were all about the mid-range. They rev to 7500RPM and there’s power all the way there. Comapred to my MR2, which has a lower redline and runs out of steam much earlier anyway, the Z32 had a very strong range.

And anyway, it was meant to be a sports luxury car. That’s what it is. So don’t rag on it for not being a proper sports car, it was never meant to be.

And of course they replaced the Z31, it was starting to look very old, and when the Z32 came out it was ahead of the whole market.

I agree completely. He’s comparing the slowest 300ZX and the fastest Corvette! Of course the Corvette has more power, of course the Z32 is cheaper.

He acknowledges in the comments he screwed up the power figures. Too bad his review takes that incorrect info into account and forms his opinions on it.
